Magistrat et ancien ministre de la Justice, Ousmane Diagne a été nommé, lundi 13 juillet, président du Conseil constitutionnel du Sénégal, par le chef d’Etat Diomaye Faye. Le mardi 11 juillet, presqu’un mois après sa nomination, il prêtera serment et prendra officiellement fonction.
Le nouveau promu possède un parcours marqué par de hautes responsabilités au sein de l’appareil judiciaire sénégalais. Magistrat de profession, Ousmane Diagne a notamment occupé les fonctions de Procureur général près la Cour d’Appel de Dakar, de Premier Avocat général près la Cour suprême et de ministre de la Justice, Garde des Sceaux sous le premier gouvernement d’Ousmane Sonko.
Ousmane Diagne remplacera Mamadou Badio Camara, décédé en avril 2025, à 75 ans, alors que son mandat était en cours. A ce jour, la vice-présidente, Aminata Ly Ndiaye, assure la présidence intérimaire de la haute juridiction.
