Le chef d’Etat Diomaye Faye a nommé Thione Niang en qualité d’ambassadeur itinérant de la République du Sénégal. Sur ses réseaux sociaux, le diplomate s’est réjoui de cette nomination et a précisé qu’il aura pour «mission de piloter la stratégie de nation branding et de soft power du Sénégal, de développer des partenariats stratégiques et de mobiliser les talents et les réseaux influents de notre diaspora».
Conseiller du président, Thione Niang agira aussi en «qualité d’Envoyé spécial pour les projets nationaux structurants ainsi que pour les initiatives et opportunités qui contribueront à façonner l’avenir» du Sénégal.
Enfin, le nouvel ambassadeur a rappelé que le Sénégal a «tout ce qu’il faut pour devenir une référence mondiale en matière de démocratie, d’innovation, d’entrepreneuriat, de culture et de développement durable», ajoutant qu’il agira dans ce sens des responsabilités.
